    NEW MOD- TTTG SB "Convertible"

here's a fun trailer/teaser highlighting, briefly, a new Mod 2QZQ did for me on the TTTG Switchback 1.9 SL.

I wanted something similar to their HH Mod 4 on my Switchback= fully removable bug net, stashed in a peak bag. Donna- Zipper Queen- was very supportive in helping me envision this project. Her expertise and experimental attitude to take the 'challenge' on, along with Darby's 'innovation' blessing, prompted us to develop this modification over a slew of emails and phone calls. What great customer service!

more info and some thoughts when i actually receive the hammock, as I had 2QZQ ship the Switchback "Covertible" to my hmmk buddy Tendertoe in Ohio for a pitstop. He tested it today and had only positives to report both on the Switchback itself, but especially the NEW "Convertible" or "Drop-Top" MOD.

the pics in the video were taken by 2QZQ at the "Pennsylvania Mod Shop".

if you're itching to tweak some gear, have no fear, 2QZQ are here!

    How much for the mod?

Unfortunately around here it's next to impossible to hang w/o the net. I tried the other day in the backyard and the baby skeeters laid into me.

cost is still being worked out... once i get the hmmk, its a comparison between the rest of their offerings, and ultimately ZQ's effort and time spent...

yeah.. a note on skeeters....this will make the switchback a solid go-to winter hmmk for me, being i don't like using nets in the cold, and won't have the minimal "fiddle" factor of tying out and rolling up the netting.

Thanks for having this thing sent to me for a test drive!

Just sent it out to Rip after a run in my backyard.

Rip will, I'm sure, post all the details. I don't want to steal his thundah.

Without mentioning specifics about the mod - Some thoughts to add onto his thorough review...

The SB is an extremely roomy hammock. I setup my WBBB next to the SB for comparison and it felt like crawling into a coffin after being in the SB.

I am a bigger guy - 6'2'' 250lbs. This thing was roomy even for me.

The ability to pretty much transform this thing into a netless traveller hammock, was a nice feature.

Zippers on both sides is nice for UQ adjustment, grabbing gear under the hammock, etc.

Channeled ends rather than a WBBB-style whipping ("bunched whipping") does open the hammock up even further.

Four side pullouts on the hammock itself open up the hammock further.

Did I mention this hammock is roomy.

No shelf... 2 "pockets" inside the hammock - arranged asym - 1 at the "left foot" end and 1 at the right "head end".

    No SRL

All hammocks have their pros and cons - This would be a nice hammock to have in your arsenal, or a nice hammock if it's your only one, for that matter.

Can't wait to see the full shakedown of this thing once it's back in Rip's grasp.

    I love this idea.
Now I just have to figure out when I can be without my SB.
What a great idea you 3.
thanks I'll be watching the website of this mod to be offered.

EDIT: If I may ask. Are the stock zippers reused or do the zippers have to be replaced?

ZQ said to PM- its not officially on their site, but they can do it.
I'll do a more extensive review and spend a night in the "backyard lab" to ensure this is the best way to offer the mod- before its widely accepted and makes the site. cost TBD.

**yes- she ordered the same size zippers from quest? to match the stock SB zippers.

    how exciting !
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......
