In other words what is the length of the ridgeline if it was hung A fram instead of as a diamond.
I think someone said 14 foot.

Yep ridgeline is 14 feet. From the center of the ridgeline to the tip of the side is 7 feet.
Lack of preparation on your part does not constitue an emergency on mine.

Not sure who said it ...but I like it

    Thanks big baby,
I think 14' is the Ridgeline length with a diagonal hang.

I am intrestedin the center of edge to center of opposite edge measurement.
This woule be the ridgeline if the tarp was hung A frame.
I dont necessarily want to hang A frame
Cat cuts can be shallow or deep so i think the center to center measurement keeps comparisons apple to apple.

The tarp is about 8.5', or 102 inches, from center point of side to center point of opposite side. Note: there is no tie-out at the center point of the side, so you'll need to add one to attach the tarp to the ridgeline (my preferred method), or drape tarp over the ridgeline. I just don't like my tarp to touch my ridgeline. I'm afraid it will abrade the tarp and make it leak. In the Boy Scouts they always taught us to never have anything touching the tarp or tent, or it would leak. Is that an irrational fear?

Each corner has a tie-out, and each side has two tie-outs located at 1/3 and 2/3 of the 10 ft. length. Therefore, you could try an asymmetrical hang going between these side tie-outs which would give you a ridgeline of approximately 9 ft. 1 inch (109 inches). It might even be longer when the tarp is tensioned. I don't know how hard it would be to tie-out and tension the tarp in these asymmetrical configurations.

I've attached a drawing of the three ridgeline configurations I see possible, along with tarp dimensions and location of tie-outs. I did not include the three tie-outs on the 14' ridgeline on the outside of the tarp.

It looks like I'm stuck with the diamond configuration (14 ft. ridgeline) with my Byer Moskito Hammock. I'll have to keep finding trees about 16 ft. apart. I may try the 11.5' tarp ridgeline, and try to shorten up my hammock adjustable ridgeline, but I don't think it's going to provide rain coverage for whoopies and hammock. And I don't think I'll be comfortable with such a short hammock ridgeline, not to mention that I'll have to hang everything higher to keep it all off the ground.

Oops, the drawing shows four possible ridgeline configurations, not three:
    14 ft.
    11.5 ft.
    9 ft. 1 in.
    8.5 ft.

WWK10, I hope this answered your question. Once I had read my post, I realized that a picture would say it much better so I whipped open Microsoft Visio 2007 and drew it out. I wish my Visio skills were better, but hopefully the picture helps.

    fubba,
Thank you so much. No one else seems to think this is an important stat. It helps me compare apples to apples since some cat cuts are shallow and some are deep.

    For example, my Guide gear 12' x 12' is actually 10.5 x 10.5 (125") and my Chinook 12 x 9.5 is actually 11 x 8.5 (135" x 104")

Thanks again. Even though I didnt really need to know, I will finally sleep well tonight knowing the answer.

Some people questioned the craftsmanship of this tarp and implied it might leak. I have put it through its paces and feel fairly confident of the craftsmanship. There's been plenty of all-day, all-night rain in the Northeast for testing and the Funky Forest Tarp kept me dry as a bone. I bought a tube of seam sealer just in case, but haven't needed it.

I have been enjoying my Funky Forest Tarp ever since I got it and was planning on adding a couple of additional loops to it so I could hang in an A frame form.

I finally got around to getting it done this past week-end.

I started out by cutting and making a couple of triangles out of the same type of fabric to which I attached a loop made out of grograins. I made sure that the loops were sewn on super tight to spread the load.

I then sewed the triangle fabrics with the loops onto the tarp at the top.

The final result was pretty good and almost looked like it was done at the factory.

I don't think the tarp is big enough to be used in Winter mode, I will have to try that with my smaller hammock the next time I am out at the park.

Below are a few pics of the mod and what the outcome looks like in real life:
