    JRB Weathershield questions

I just got a Weather Shield set...

Do I need to seal anything on these?

    Also-
How do you recommend that I carry these? In a stuff sack? Folded, rolled, or stuffed?

I can see I need to be a little gentle with them, so I want to make sure I do what'll cause the least amount of stress on them....

Can't wait to try em out!

No seam sealing required. I only have the bottom piece and I just fold it up and stuff it in my pack. A stuff sack would add unnecessary weight IMO.

    Thanks, FanaticFringer-

I was concerned that if I just had it in my pack unprotected, I might stag it on a jacket zipper or something. I guess I just need to be "aware" of what's around it. Maybe I should put in down in the pack bottom....

    Appreciate it!

You could leave it attached to your hammock...shouldn't take up too much room in a stuff sack or even snakeskins...

    Cool You'll love it

The Weather shield bottom does its job well. I've also come to appreciate the top --- even though I thought I wouldn't need it at first - In warmer weather you can use it instead of a quilt and be totally comfy.

As for packing - I just throw in w/my Nest (if it's dry), or if wet I shake it off and stuff (or fold) it in an outside pack pocket.

    Enjoy,

    Toddhiker

    Thanks for the info everyone!

Toddhiker- One of my hammocks is a HH that I bought used, without netting, and the slit sewn shut. I call it my "winter" hammock. I'm thinking that without the netting, I'll probably need some kind of protection over the top of my bag. I'm looking forward to trying this set out

    Glad you like yours...

I just have to get that new tarp seam sealed, and into the backyard I go for a hanging !

You shouldn't need anything else to protect your bag. If you are having problems with that it might be a tarp coverage problem.

Cool idea on the HH. I have been keeping my eye out for a cheap one that I could remove the netting on. I just can't bring myself to do it to mine.
