I tried to hang my hammock in the back yard today using my one pecan tree, a very large pecan tree and the neighbors sucker tree across the fence. Well I found out that there is 8 feet on either side of the hammock and not taking a chance I didn't try to lay in it. The tree straps, only one inch width ones were having a problem with the abrasive pecan tree bark, I noticed wear today. Also the hammock seemed to hang very low. In a normal situation should I have tried to put the straps up past my head height, or would I just move on and look for better trees. Also, for someone hitting 235 pounds should I go with the 1 1/2 straps. Thanks for any suggestions, btw, that 235 is down from 345 last year so I'm slowly working on it.
