dont get the "salmon bungee" those are really long and sortof overkill for tarp tensioners (read: too much flex)
the Dipsy Diver Snubber is what you need, in 6 or 8 in. length. I use 6 in. at all 4 tie-outs on my MacCat micro. works like a charm. I have also used them to keep silnylon tarps taught while ground sleeping. Great thing about them is the snap swivel can be attached and removed very quickly.

just a heads up, the Bass Pro in Phoenix carries these things... not much salmon around here so I suppose all the BPS's carry them. I bought a spare. $3
I could also assume that because these are latex and designed for use with downriggers in very deep/cold water they should work below freezing. The dacron line inside is 100lb test.

I never got around to getting these but I did find my local Ace Hardware had latex tubing so I got 15' of that. I made up auto-tensioners per Just Jeff's instructions and I will try them out tomorrow on the tarp. The only thing I did differently than Jeff was to use zip ties instead of inner strands from Paracord to secure the knots in the tube. It's a lot easier than tying knots with thin Paracord.

I saw something at WalMart that might work well for tarp tensioner. It was a small plastic jar that had 20 mini bungie cords, maybe 6-8" each, for like $3.50. They were in the automotive section with the ratchet straps and other bungie cords.

Just buy the JRB's, they use theraband material, far superior to ordinary latex. I think they are $10 pr and that includes the lines.

That's a lot of $ if you need more than 2 or 4 though. If the latex breaks easily then I'll try the thicker-walled latex, but methinks it'll be alright. We'll see how it holds up.

until it drops below freezing then you may have some problems with regular latex. Even the theraband latex deforms below freezing but I have not had one break. The regular latex will break. Also make sure the wire ties are really tight because water will run down the line and act like a lubricant allowing the knot to pop out.

Yes it is if you need a bunch, I ordered a roll of the green theraband material for $15 + shipping and made my own since I needed a dozen of them. Tying all those lashing knots from paracord guts was a pain. Those little zip ties look like the way to go.
