(uh, six year old thread...)
That's okay. Good to breathe life into old threads. I would interested to hear what folks think of those hammocks too. I have looked but not researched much.
I would rather be in the woods... my dog would rather be in the pool. My wife thinks we are both nuts.
Well, I'm young enough to still care about that myself, but old enough to say that it sounds like a cramp waiting to happen. I think Cannibal's thoughts on that subject hit the mark perfectly. Good luck with your experimentation!
I've often thought about what would be best as an everyday sleeping hammock. I'm partial to gathered end hammocks as opposed to those flat-looking ones that so often have been very tippy when I've been in one. I've also thought that maybe cotton wasn't the best material. It holds onto too much - moisture as we all know, but also dirt. Potential shrinkage when washed.
Wilderness Logics sells a quilted material that I wonder if it would make a good hammock capable of using in home temps without underinsulation. I would look for something like that.
p.s. Ha! Just noticed the age of the thread, but i guess its still worthy of refreshment.
