Supplex stretch

I'm planning on making a gathered end hammock for winter and using supplex for the fabric if I can find some at a good price. My only concern is if this fabric will stretch substantially.

Also, would a dual layer be any warmer than a single layer or would the difference be so insignificant that one couldn't really tell the difference?

I know there are lighter fabrics, but I'm more interested in durability and strength for this hammock than weight.

I've been looking at using a similar Invista fabric for a hammock, Tactel as its very hard wearing, wicking and very comfy. I believe their properties are quite similar.

I posted a thread on here about it but didn't get too much response, so I got some info from the vendor. The Tactel I inquired about had no stretch and weighed 140g/sqm or around 4 oz/sqyd-it was very cheap from Ebay in olive green.

My opinion is that the second layer won't add a large amount of extra warmth but does provide some backup if a rip occurs in the hammock. I've not noticed much difference in warmth between single/double layers but thats with windproof fabric, YMMV.

I doubt Supplex is windproof but thats just a guess.

I've used Supplex from Questoutfitters for winter hammocks. It stretches less than 1.9 oz. ripstop, which in turn stretches a lot less than 1.1 oz. ripstop. I don't think you need a double layer of it. I recently bought a pair of Marmot pants because they were Supplex, and I think they are lighter in weight than the stuff I used for my hammocks, so it may come in different grades.

I have a shirt made of supplex and it is not windproof. I'd rather the hammock body not be windproof. I'll take care of that with my insulation.
