    2 - person down quilt

Anyone have or know of any patterns for one of these?

    Here is my thinking.

    Dimensions: 6' x 4'
    Outer Material: 1.1 Calendared Ripstop (~$20) (6yd)
Baffling: No See Um (~$10) (3yds)
    Down: hammockgear.com 800fp [Rated 20degF] (~$45) (7oz)

For the down I used the formula on Thu-hiker.com

    Here is the math.
    72" x 16" x 2.5" (loft for 20deg) / 800 = 3.6 (per side) x 2 = ~7 oz

    Total Project: $75

PS- Anyone ever make a backpack? I am curious of the quality of a sil backpack and how difficult that is to make. Any links / info would work.

PPS - Priced out a tarp tent for supplies. Only $55 worth. Wow.

    ljcsov,

You may want to rethink your sizing, 4' is way too narrow for two persons...

Also your down math does not track for a 48 inch wide quilt.

    Good luck with your project.

Wow that's a lot of down.

Also I see where my math was off. I was doing it pretty late at night and was probably out of it. Thanks for catching that.

Thanks, that will probably work. How do you like it?

the quilt is huge so it needs all that down. it does have more loft than the planned 2.25" however. the double layer loft was crazy and the single was over 2.5-2.75" but it is KARO so i am not sure if the down was distributed good yet when i measured the loft. It isn't for me so it left yesterday once finished. i used 7D and .48cuben for the baffles with my standard zipper foot and 3 gross grain understraps the weight was just over 29oz so not the lightest things i ever made but a good weight for 2, really good i think.
