So, out of curiousity...anyone had any issues with the HH Hex (70D Polyeurethane Coated Polyester Rip-stop) 'misting' underneath?

I've got one...only been out in some pretty minor rain once...was curious if misting might become an issue at some point?

I'm looking forward to a good rain sometime (assuming no misting!) to see how it sounds from the warmth/dryness of my hammock.

Tyvek is definitely a loud one!

Poly coated tarps shouldn't mist... though it doesn't rain enough here to mist under even a DWR tarp...

I find the sound of rain hitting a tarp/shelter to be very satisfying, when you are nice and dry underneath.

Other satisfying sounds to experience are the sound of boiling water and the crackle of a campfire.... mmmm, fire good.

Whether car camping, day tripping or survival I think these sounds must be stored in our genetic memory and trigger a feeling of comfort and contentment. Beethoven may be nice but nothing strikes such a feeling of contentment as knowing you are warm and dry and about to be sipping on a steaming hot beverage, from a fire you created as the rain pours down all around you.

I've only been out under my HH Hex in rain once, and it was pretty heavy rain most of the night, and I did not experience any misting.

    Cheers,

    Jason.

Nope, or atleast not yet (knocks on wood). Downside is the weight. I like the coverage over the blackbird.

Nope. Spent about twelve hours' worth of rain under one so far, and stayed completely dry. Some of that was a Florida summer thunderstorm, so it was pretty intense (they tend only to last an hour or two but drop one heck of a lot of water).

It sounds a lot like rain hitting a tent rainfly (seeing as how most of 'em are PU-coated nylon these days), except that you don't have to worry about whether your "tent" is on low ground...
