    Single or Double

So I'm close to purchasing either a 1.1 oz/yard single or double BB. I weigh 160 lbs and I'm a little heavy right now. I've looked over the weight recommendations on the website, but I want input from you all as well. Do you think I'd be fine in the 1.1 single or do I need to go for the double? I won't be using a pad. The only consideration I'm worried about is weight.

The double layer may feel a little flatter but at your weight you'd probably not notice a difference. Looks like you use UQ's so if the ability to use a pad is not important and if you are counting your ounces, then I think a single layer should do. Have fun!

Single layer! I found the double layer annoying, especially if you don't use pads. Even better than the single 1.1 is the single 1.7. It's the only way to go in my opinion.

I am going through same decision process. I am 165lbs with narrow shoulders and like to hike lite. I am leaning towards a single 1.1 because I def plan on using an UQ. I don't think I need the double layer even if I have to use a pad under my feet. If I make the wrong decision, the blackbird is an easy sell in the classified section.

Yeah, sounds like we're making the same decision. I like to hike light and won't be fiddling with a pad. Just wasn't sure if the 1.1 would work well enough or if I needed to go up to the 1.1 double or 1.7 single.

somehow the 1.1 double is lighter than the 1.7 single. so IMO there's no point in getting the 1.7 single. it's either the 1.1 single or double...

    just my 2 cents

I weigh 170 and if I add a few clothes wearing while in hammock or store a few thingys in ends of hammock,,going to get a 1.7 single,,I think that is the trigger to pull for me. just my 2 cents.

Raul Perez loves his 1.1 single black bird.

yeah.. i really want to ditch the 1.1 double layer i currently have.. but it IS lighter wags, than the 1.7 single with which i'd replace it. i could get away with the 1.1 single at my weight, but i like to have a loaner, and i'd rather be at the higher end of the weight limit, than not.

i've been wrestling with this one for some time now...sounds like others are too
