Hope you like. I think you will. Hate to see people spend money on something I suggest and not have it work for them.

Don’t worry Knotty. I used to use a Vango self inflating pillow but it started leaking air and it was to bulky when stored. The one you recommend looks just right.

Weaver, if you can't find much info out here at HF, check out backpackinglight.com. Lots of backpackers there use Kookabay products and have offered reviews of workmanship and customer service. Hope this helps.

right now many discount stores have end of summer sales on items like this : http://www.amazon.com/Intex-Recreati...4543315&sr=8-3

make sure you get the style shown, with the horizontal seam. cut along the sealed edge and it opens up to ~6x15.

*my local walmart has similar on clearance for 24¢
    1oz each, 12¢ each

Exactly. Once you've put kids in floaties, you don't forget the linked inflated pillows.
That said, I'm sure it is inferior to what costs $30 more.

    Kooka Bay

    Weaver2469

I have used both the Montbell and Kooka Bay pillows. The Kooka Bay XL size that I have is about an inch more on the thickness than the Montbell. Weighs about the same. Certainly both do the job supporting the knees. Which I frequently use it for.

The fabric of the Montbell is a little more soft and somewhat more quiet. How do you like those subjective terms I put a fleece cover on the Kooka Bay, just feels better and well, makes it quiet. My wife is a ground sleeper and likes the pillow with the cover on.

Quality wise both are very well made no issues with either, many nights on the trail.
