Adding an SRL...is it worth it?

I've got a cheap castaway parachute hammock on order from STP (thanks Dave). I was kicking around using a scrap of zing-it to add a structural ridgeline. Question is.....is that even worth it? The SRL basically allows me to keep the same hang, more or less, regardless of angle/tension. Since I don't need it to keep a mosquito net out of my face do you think this mod is worthwhile?

This will mostly be a "lounging on the porch" hammock or possibly a loaner to my ground dwelling friends. So what's the consensus?? Please point me towards any relevant threads. I would think this has probably been covered at some point. My "search-fu" is pretty weak today.

    Thanks,

I added a SRL to my ENO DN and I found the change to be a vast improvement in the comfort. But a RL is not for everyone. YMMV.

eh.. .just make a length of zing it with 2 loops, and make it detachable.

sometimes its nice to have the line to hang stuff if overnighting.
esp. if you like a certain amount of sag.

then for lounging.. just detach the srl.
get one of them new fangled dutch ridgeline biners to make it easy.

    "Yes" is the short answer.

    1. It takes the guess work out of hanging you hammock.
It will come out right on your first try every time.

    2. Super convenient place to hang doo-dads.
Like the book you started reading as you layed down,
and now, 1/2 page later, you want to sleep

Only if you want it. I have one hammock I hang between the same two posts on my porch and since it only hangs from the same distance every time, and it's spaced so I get pretty comfortable sag, no ridge line on that one.

If you're going to hang it in different places, why not have one? Not like it's hard to do or remove if you just slip your suspension through it.

My traveler has one never thought about removing it.
My ENO double doesn't and never thought about adding one.

The problem with RL's is they keep knocking my hat off everytime I setup in the hammock.

Without SRL, it wraps me too tight
With it, nice and comfy and I can shift around in it easier.

With one, it is super easy to get a consistent hang.
