Long time lurker, first time poster from WA

I'll admit it, I've been lurking this forum like a bear at an overnight sponsored by Reese's. This is because (a) I am inherently lazy and (b) I have no hammock. This should hopefully change in the near future.

I am also chea... thrifty. Since I found this forum the sewing machine my in-laws gave to us years ago has acquired a new significance. I choked a bit when the place I went said they were willing to clean it for $170, but they also said it felt good-to-go. If anyone has the instruction manual for a kenmore 385, I am interested. Yes I could get it for under 10 dollars, but see my first sentence.

Three weeks ago I got 50' of amsteel. I now have 2 soft shackles, 2 chainlinks, 2 whoopie slings, 2 tree huggers, and 2 tree hugger extenders. Of course, I also have no idea what to do with them, or what to do with the other 25'.

Now so much material is coming my way. Big thanks to Scott at Backwoods Daydreamer DIY for adding my underquilt obsession to my double layer hammock obsession (since the ccf I was looking at would cost basically the same amount) so I didn't have to pay for two shipments. Still no push for a tarp, sinylon scares me for some reason.

I have so many questions, mostly about how to make sure I am comfortable as a side/stomach sleeper. Also, what is the best way to make a double layer hammock (fold the ripstop vs cutting 2 separate layers). As an aside my wife (whose mind apparently lives in the gutter) keeps laughing at things like "whipping", "soft shackles", "whoopie slings", and "milking the bury."

    So anyways.... um ..... hi.

    Welcome to HF!

Google search for a manual turned up these two links. Appears there are multiple sub-models within the 385 series so don't know if these match your thread injector. Oops, there's another term for your wife to have fun with.

Like you, I have recently become interested in thread injection because of this site.

    The possibilities are mind-numbing. :-)

Welcome aboard from Florida. My Kenmore is a 158 no help there. When I pullled it out of storage after 15 years, just dusted it off and oiled it, been working great.
