Got her finished, must say I like the look, and the ties look awful sturdy. May go with over ridgeline setup, but all in all I feel pretty good with it, don't even think I'll cat cut it. Kinda like it white, too... The Ghost has been born!

Looks great Aardvark. Looking forward to a report of how it performs for you.
Looking GOOD Does it make much noise in the wind? Are you thinking about taping doors on for the winter?
Had a very light wind last hour or so, really pretty quiet. My winter tarp will remain the Noah 12, I found a pretty sweet spot with the Kelty for closed doors, needed this one done for a little AT action and to cover Myself and kids in 2 weeks. Full blown test that weekend.

How good is that!
Looking great, and good news about the tyvek tape test!
I did a bit more work on my design last night. Using Aardvark's tip about the sketchup dimension tool, I used those to create a plan view of the tarp laid flat, printed it and cut it out, so now I have a scale model of my tarp at approximately 1/25.
Would be great if we could share the actual sketchup files, but the forum doesn't seem to allow that. Attached a pdf though, Measurements in metres, not inches.

Nice job...glad to see it go from idea to completed object.
I am probably going to do a winter tarp..gotta sit down and draw it out.
I think convert said he was having issues with paint dust and smell. Not sure if thats still an issue. I will be trying some leather dye. Stuff I use on holsters etc. Its in an alcohol suspension so maybe it will work. I will let you guys know.
Oh still enjoying that stove...made soup a few time just playing with it. Thanks again.

Hey, thanks, you're welcome to steal it. Just be aware its designed by a noob If you would like, also happy to send out the sketchup plan (pm me your emaill address)
Yes doors and all. If you print it out and fold it up, I'd be real interested in feedback from people who actually have tarps.
Measurement from ridgeline to edge of tarp is 1.5m - that's the dimension of the Tyvek I have coming (its the soft 1443R stuff) - so 3.0m overall width, I have a seam on the ridge between the two pieces. (or will have when my tyvek and tape turns up)
So, Is there no problem with setting it up upside down (writing on the inside)? Tyvek is directional dependent when put on houses for the breathability to be in the right direction. But will that make a difference as a tarp?
