I now that shaping the ends will change how a hammock lies. Has anyone written up the effects of changing from a square end to something else?

I made one with the ends curved symmetrically such that the centerline of the hammock was shorter than the edges by 6". My thinking was that it would lift the center to give a flater diagonal lay. It did not work - the center ridge created made the hammock almost unstable not to mention, extremely uncomfortable. Contact GreenvilleDave (sp?) as I believe he has done more extensive testing with shaped ends.

The one I made my son, square edge on one half, then other half tapers from middle to -6 inches. The other end, same but on different sides (mirror image). This shortened up long edges of hammock which tightened up the lay a bit, and made the diagonal lay a little easier to slip into.
I sewed in a channel for paracord to slip thru, then used it to gather in a ball to provide a good grip for the suspension. Before I closed up the ball, looped the amsteel in the center of the gather and wrapped in larkshead 2 loops before tightening paracord. Pic below.
.... the Aardvark (earth pig)... a rather unremarkable creature whose sole claim to fame is that it is the first animal listed in the dictionary.
