First hang on the Bartram Trail

My dad and I hiked a small section and had a hang on the Bartram Trail, a historic 115mi trail that goes from GA to NC.

We made camp at the first site we came to, around 4PM, giving us many hours to tinker with and enjoy our new hammocking gear.
The spot was on top of a ridge so we had no bugs, a nice breeze, and some great long distant views into the blue ridges. The temp has been about 10 degrees cooler this week so it felt and smelled like fall in the air.

It was my first time sleeping in a hammock, and apart from nightmares of bears eating me in my sleep, it was very comfortable and cozy.

I made a crude bishop bag for my tarp the day before and it worked well. I cut a hole in a stuff sack, burned the edges, then sewed several circles around it.

Thanks to all the helpful hammockforum members for getting us properly set up.

Looks like you had a great time! Some interesting camp shoes there.

one note - add a foot line and your comfort sitting sideways in the hammock will be increased significantly
