Trinity Alps, Ca, August 2011. Again

Four of us took a wonderful trip to the Trinity Alps, in northern California. Two of us are hammockers, and two ground dwellers
Lots of nice gear, and plenty of food and other amenities.
My gear: Osprey Hornet pack. Traveller hammock. Oes Maccat Standard. 3Syeti underquilt, Nunatak Arc Specialist quilt. Lots of evernew (kettle, cup, spork), Snowpeak Giga stove. None of my clothes were backpacking clothes, per se, maybe just my trail runners.
Other's gear included a DIY hammock and tarp. Lots oz Zpacks cuben. MLD packs. This, thin pads for the ground

We hiked in 5 miles on a Friday afternoon. Found a beautiful spot by the river, with the clearest water and swimming hole.

By the way, i went to sleep at 7 pm and woke up from other's talking at 7 am
    .....

We left most gear at camp at headed to Boulder creek lakes, about 3.5 miles. First we walked though a nice meadow,

then along the river and then a serious scamble to the lakes. Quite a bit of bush wacking, which kept people out of this beautiful spot. The water was warm enough to swim, not merely jump in.

We got back to our lovely camp early enough to gather some wood, have a fire, eat plenty and laugh. We were thankful for the relatively small amount of mosquitos.
    I slept another 10 hours.
About 8:30 in the morning we headed back.
Daytime highs around 90, lows around 50, full moon.
    Such a beautiful place!!!

I was just talking with someone about the Trinity Alps the other day... Gotta love that place.
Thanks for sharing the pics. Crystal clear water and LOTS of time in the hammock sounds like a good trip to me.

Thanks. The Trinity Alps are really beautiful. I just could not believe that water.
Yeah, 12 hours in the hammock, with no sleeping aids of any kind, either
This was m 4th backpacking trip in this area and I have loved it every time.

What, a hammock isn't a sleeping aid?! It works for me all the time.

Thanks for sharing -- it's beautiful there.
