This is the exact method I use (substitute whoopies for webbing). I tied a little piece of surveyors tape to the drawstring on the head end on my stuff sack. Very simple and works great.

I had Mountain goat make them. All you have to do is give her the measurements you want and she will also put pockets on them. She does exellent work and I love them.

no "wear" issues with them? And does she just need the length?

I also bought the Mountain Goat Snakeskins...I love the! Very well made and priced fairly. A great product and vendor. I would buy another set in a heartbeat. When I have another tarp, I will.
