Make sure you're laying it in at a little angle so you can lay flat. Then just shove an extra shirt or something under your neck. You'll sleep like a brick.
I don't use a pillow. It's more comfortable and saves a lot of room in the pack if you're a hiker!
We strive for a near-flat lay in hammocks, but many times counteract that by putting a pillow under our heads!
I'm a side sleeper most of the time in my hammocks & also like to read for an hour or more after crawling in for the night. After trying clothes or other soft "gear", I bit the bullet & bought one of these pillows. Now I inflate to a comfortable 'reading' level & deflate to a comfortable 'sleeping' level. When packed, it's smaller & lighter than a pair of good wool ankle socks.
