    Easy Sleeping Bag Entry

I have noticed that posters on here and other forums mention the difficulty of getting in a sleeping bag while getting into the hammock. I agree that it is somewhat clumsy but if you have a ridgeline on your hammock you can flop the top part of your bag over that as you crawl in. Push the bottom of your bag over in the hammock, crawl in the hammock, pull down the top, wriggle a bit and you are good to go. I recommend using the sleeping bag as a quilt for added ease.
There ya' go. Just a morsel of hammock info.

    That's a great tip.

Personally, while I'm standing in the opening to my HH, I step into my bag like a pair of pants, pull it up around my shoulders, then lie back and pull in my feet...I'm IN the bag.

Yep. That works without fail, quick, easy and all the benefits of a mummy bag hood and neck collar. Zero drafts or heat loss from head/neck area! But still not quite as easy or convenient or comfortable as a quilt, unless you are cold in the quilt. But I prefer the bag if I am pushing the envelope temp wise.

I've thought about that...problem is there's usually a few inches of water under the hammock where I hang...

I like the idea of hanging the bag on the ridgeline....

I've gotten pretty good at prelaying my bag zipper open in my HH. (1) set through the opening directly onto midpoint of the open bag, (2) pull up feet and ditch boots, (3) swing feet over into footbox and grab zipper, (4) pull, (5) wiggle, (6) pull and set shoulders & collar.

Probably gonna have to work till I get to sit on Santa's lap again before I get to try a quilt. Too warm in the south these days anyway to worry about it. 4x6 fleece quilt is all that is called for over the next half year.

I use my sleeping bag in the hammock. I don't have a ridgeline, but I do throw the top over the side. Then I pull the bottom close to edge where I enter hammock and then I sit, turn, put feet in bag and zip up. No problems yet. Then just sleep really, really really well.

I only have about 5 or 6 nights 'hanging', and don't find getting into my bag THAT difficult.

    I must be a natural!
The harder I work, the luckier I get.
