I QUIT.
I am going straight to HQ tomorrow and tell them that the people I associate with on-line have forced me to quit the fire department with just 6 years to retirement.
Not really but it sure makes it tough looking at all the beautiful places around the world that folks get to hike and paddle. Now for those of us in West TN. we just have to wait our time out and travel when we can
Y'all are killing me!

Hang in there BEAS & just live life at your own sweet pace.
Cane toads are a pest, they kill wildlife. There's not as many about here where I live as there used to be. In the past, you couldn't step foot outside the house without having minimum 20 of the buggers trying to get into the house. They where everywhere. Thank goodness, there not like that here now. But locally we have this idiot guy trying to breed them and releasing into the wild. Claimed there a beautiful creature. Reckons there native to the area, he has no idea, they where introduced years ago by foolish farmers to eliminate the cane beetles if I remember, than they multiplied in plaque proportions in no time.
Philipsart,
Just a scientific so-called cure that went horribly haywire. Not sure how far south & west on this huge continent they've actually spread, but there's some vast distances involved.

I spent 4 months in Australia and never got the chance to do any hiking. Looking at your photos makes me regret it any more. Thanks a lot for sharing and glad you had an awesome trip.
Fronkey
.....you probably had other things on your mind at the time
No regrets... Fronkey...no regrets.
Thanks for the trip report ofuros. Another magic SEQ trek to add to the to do list.
Ofuros - your pics took MY breath away!!!! WOW!!! thanks so much for taking the time to post. that's interesting about the cane toad, i will look as to where are they indigenous.

That's a beautiful day hike you went on...spectacular scenery. Good thing you got out of the Upper Portals before the rains; looks like it could get interesting up there. It's a shame about those toads, nonnative species are seldom helpful in the long run. Thanks for sharing!
