    My new rig with pics

Well I think I've found my personal nirvana. I took my new rig out to a hike in only campground near me, and had the entire lake to myself. Here's some pics of my new toys:
ENO single nest with structural ridgeline, and whoopie slings all in one set up
HammockGear.com cat cut cuben fiber tarp on a continuous ridgeline
HammockGear.com summer pheonix 3/4 under quilt, and summer burrow top quilt.
I slept really well till about 4 am. I woke up really sick with a pounding headache, I ended up running to the bushes to be sick, then the outhouse for...well you know. I filtered all my water even out of the hand pump the water is full of rust. (The lake water doesn't look any better), but once filtered it was fine, and I drank plenty of it so I wasn't dehydrated. The only thing I can think of is I used quite a bit of bugspray(with deet ) over the corse of the day, I'm wondering if I had a toxic reaction to that. After a few hours I was feeling a lot better though and was once again enjoying the trip. Any comments/suggestions, on the rig or the health issue would be apprecitated.

Nice set up, and a nice spot to hang at! Looks great to me!

You probably got sick thinking of all the times you've slept in a tent and missed out on such bliss.

That is a great looking set up and a great looking view. I would suffer thru the heaves and squats for a set up like yours.

Haven't heard of DEET causing anything like what you experienced (only skin reactions--even if ingested, it seems to cause hallucinations not gastro-intestinal problems). So it was probably related to your backcountry hygiene--either water or food prep.

ANYHOO--glad you made it through okay. Your set up looks terrific!! Thanks for posting!

What did you have for lunch/dinner? Usually, that's what causes being sick like that for short periods of time.

Anyway, cool looking stuff, and a wonderfully beautiful place to hang.

The only food I ate on the trip were Mountain house meals. One at around noon, and one at about 7pm. I don't think that is the problem as you add boiling water to them, and they should be sterile in the package. I used a Katadyn pocket filter on the water, and from what I've heard it's as safe as they come. I forgot to mention in the original post that I've had this happen before, and chalked it up to dehydration, so this time I made certain to drink enough. (Maybe it is the cost of goosedown, and cuben )

Hrm...I got nothing, then. Best bets are either cross-contamination on the filter (letting the inlet hose touch either the outlet hose or your drinking vessel) or contamination from something on your hands.

'Course, it could be the DEET, too. I've not heard of a reaction like that from it (and I wear 100% DEET spray when I'm hiking on my legs and a little bit on the rest of me during the summer, spring, and fall), but that doesn't mean that it couldn't happen...

I've read that more wilderness gastro problems are causes by food handling with dirty hands than from water. Taking care of hygiene and food prep creates certain challenges in the wild.

So, it may not have been the water.

However, has your filter ever been frozen. This will typically render them useless from then on. Just asking since your locale in Wisconsin begs the question {shiver}.

    P.S. SUPER SETUP!!!!!

Nope I bought it new this past spring. I probably did get my dirty mits on the mouth of my water bottle while clipping the hose on....gonna have to pack some hand sanitizer next time. Thanks for the responses.
