HOLD THE GUN FIRE!

I have a trek coming up where ground pitching is going to be required one night. Depending on the conditions (bugs) I may or may not use the hammock. I am going to use my trekking poles to string up the tarp so that won't be an issue.

Those of you that have ground pitched - what did you put on the ground to protect the hammock? I'd rather not throw in a poly tarp because of the weight but it would be a cheap solution.

The area I'll be in is near Dolly Sods, WV in a clear-cut landscape. If we are doing the same trek as the last one there one camp will be in the woods, or close enough to hang, and the other is on bare, rocky, hilly ground.
