    First DIY hammock!

So I decided to give my first DIY hammock a try today. I basically wanted to build a real strong backyard hammock. I made the whoopie slings out of 7/64 Amsteel, and used the same cord for the ridgeline. I used some 550 paracord for the whipping. The hammock fabric is 2.8oz plain weave from DIYGearSupply.com. I used Gutermann Mara 70 for the bishop sack, and Gutermann Tera 40 for the hammock. I made the tree straps 6 feet long with a 2 inch loop in one end, camo polyester webbing from DIYGearSupply.com. The hammock dimensions are basically the same as a WB Traveler, minus a couple inches in width. So here are some pics of the "build". I am VERY happy with the outcome, I can lay flat as a board in this thing! It's very strong, and with EVERYTHING needed to hang in the bishop sack, the final weight was 23.5oz

My beautiful fiancee after trying it out, she loved it!
