    Skins for Rectangular Tarp.

What would be a suggested size of raw material for a 10 by 12 tarp. Looking at the diy tutorial I get the idea of the shape that it is for a cut shape and not rectangle. Being mine is the same size all the way down the ridgeline would I be smarter to keep the size even instead of the tapered size?

I hung my tarp from the ridge line with the sides hanging, started from each end gathering the fabric toward the RL and tieing the fabric off with string every foot or so. This gave me the shape of the bundled tarp, which ended up being tapered from the ends to the center. Draped the skin material (netting) over and pinned for sewing. Hope this will help.

The taper will make it easier to pull on and unless you roll your tarp around the ridgeline before pulling the skins up, there'll be more material towards the center. I'd hang the tarp and then run my hands down it like I would the skins - 'choking' the tarp and lines - to get the size.

Agree the taper will make it easier to pull on and off the tarp. Are you planning to do a pair of snake skins or a single python tube?

    skins

I'm going to do the pair of skins. Will be easier for me to slide each to its own side instead of all the way across.
