    Flame Thrower Socks! :boggle:

I wear a size 11 shoe/boot. What size does anybody that has them recommend? How many are using them in the colder temps? Sounds like a great piece of gear and going to definitely get a set for the wife and myself.

I wear an 11 shoe, and have the XL flame thrower socks. I've used them from the high 30'sF down to 7F as my sleep socks. Incredibly light and warm.

I also bought a pair for my father in law. He is disabled and has poor circulation. His feet were always cold. He put these socks on and with in a minute shouted "my feet are warm!" He absolutely loves them!

I have a pair of goosefeet, basically the same thing, and they are well worth it. I use a fractional UQ and they pay the bills in the winter!

there is much more down fill in the under-foot in the Flamethrower's.
goosefeet are great too, but I like the Arrowhead versions (as compared, side by side usage) and find they have a more stable (tight) ankle binding and overall tighter foot fitting. I do wish (listen, paul) that the filling in the bottom was reduced and used in the bootie, or left out to shave weight.
another fine item and a great price for UL simplicity and design.

Good to know! I love comparisons like that, and it is a main reason why I participate in these forums. I actually won mine in a contest, and probably would never have bought them, but for the 2oz penalty it can save me more than that in other insulation.

They weight practically nothing ... so 2 oz is not a penalty to me. I even carry mine on flights overseas. They're great to keep the feet warm during the flight. Those cold nasty hotels I sometimes sleep in ... trust me these have been a life saver at night. But in the hammock in the piney woods ... you won't find me without these and my Blackrock cap for sleeping comfortably. Haven't had a single cold toe night since I got my pair!

About the biggest we can go is to a size 14, and that is pushing the range of our pattern. Lager than that and things get real tricky on how they go together. We have only done a few in to the 13-14 range and they have taken a lot longer and been a lot more work to put together and have them look good.
