I'm drawn to the open country. Its where the world makes the most sense. When I put myself out there I always return with something new.
I cannot come back for the hang, but will be at Camden, SC the week before. I will need to hide my hammock during the day since I am supposed to be a Revolutionary War soldier, but the ground is hard and hay makes me sneeze so my sleeping will be in a hammock. Hope to see any of you who might be attending the annual event.
Second SC Regiment - just look for the crescent and leather helmets.
It is my understanding that the rock in the middle of the river with the black circular stamp on it is the original rock marked by Ellicott in 1811 which marks the NC/GA border. This mark can be more easily seen from up on the trail near the tree with the ribbon. Commissioner's Rock, which is maybe 10ish feet away on the SC bank was marked two years later as the SC/NC border. Since this rock can be more easily reached from the trail, it is often incorrectly called "Ellicott Rock." I guess the actual tri-state border falls on some innocuous pebble in between the two?

"The Road goes ever on and on,
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can.
Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I can promise ill make this one. georgia tech plays on a thursday that weekend so we are good and ive made the girlfriend aware of my plans no excuses
Dale Gribble: I'm thinking, "new hammock." For me, laying and swaying in a hammock is like a steady morphine drip without the risk of renal failure.
Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......

Sounds like we need a crew from Ghost Hunters in order to find this mythical and historical point. Makes it really worth the challenge and the hunt to find it. Some say its easy to find if you follow the signs and others claim its not so easy. Makes for a great hike and my daughter is really looking forward to it. Any guesses about how long of a hike it is from the campsites near the bridge? Rough estimate will work, just want to know what time frame I should expect since I'll have (2) 12 year olds with me.

When Cookie and I hiked this trail this past Spring, I remember it being maybe 2 hrs. from the bridge?
Sorry to be so vague, details get lost amoungst other hikes.

2 hours seems long to me. I was thinking no more than one. My memory's not what it used to be either though.
