A lot of people have been talking about having a group hang in the SC upstate. Here it is.
When- November 11-13
Where- Chatooga River Trail.
Hike north along the Chatooga from Burrells Ford to the bridge over the East Fork. There is a multitude of hanging opportunities just before you cross the bridge. It's about a 30-45 minute easy hike from the trailhead.
The purple line is the Foothills Trail. Burrell's Ford is near the bottom.
The black line is the Chatooga River Trail.
The green line is the Fork Mountain Trail. It runs from the Sloan's Bridge Picnic area on the FHT to the Chatooga River. The teal line is a 10 mile loop from the river, up to the Fish Hatchery and back.
To get to Burrell's Ford
From Walhalla SC, go north 8.5 miles on Hwy 28 to SC 107. Go right on 107 for 8.9 miles to Burrell's Ford Road (FR 708gravel). Left on Burrell's Ford Road for 3 miles to Burrells Ford Campground parking area. Drive on past the parking lot for the campground and park at the bottom of the hill at the trailhead on the right. If you get to the river, you just passed it.
You can hike to Spoonauger Falls. In fact, you pass it on the way in.
King Creek Falls
Catch some trout or watch somebody else do it.
