Hey guys, I'm heading your way this weekend, hiking the Foothills. I should be getting on the trail sometime about mid-day on Saturday, leaving from Oconee. I hope this FL flat-lander can manage the "ground texture" there. HA!

Anyone gonna be on the trail?

    Not this me . . .

How far are you going? I can say I got my butt kicked there a few weeks ago with the elevation gains/loss. Maybe I still have some of that Central FL in me still (1969-1995)

I think I'll hang on Sat night @ or just past Licklog. Be between there and Hwy 107 on Sat. Maybe our paths will cross. I'll trade you my Ramen noodles or tortillas for a big steak

If I was near by I'd bring you a steak and hang out Sat night but thats quite a haul for me coming from Columbia. I will say that you should make your final destination Sat Nite at Licklog. Nice waterfall to camp next to, with lots of campsites, that will provide incredible sleep. Trail is pretty tame, nothing tough and well worth the extra weight to carry a steak that first night. Cut it up into cubes, wrap in foil, freeze, place in ziploc. Can go from the freezer to fire with minimal weight to carry out. Combine with some instant potatoes (variety of your choice) and that waterfall. . . incredible sleep

Good, had to get a closed reduction under anaesthesia week before last, but now has his cast on and is healing well. Thanks for asking, buddy.

I getting a shuttle from Table Rock to Oconee. I'm going to leave a food/fuel cache near Whitewater Falls early in the AM first. I'll look for your jeep with the forum sticker @ Oconee.
Do any of you locals have advice or reccomendations on side trails, camp areas or anything else I should know?

Glad to hear it Hooch. That's a lot for a youngster to go through

Muskrat, you just chose the worst possible week to hit that bad boy. Probably 105*-110* heat index by 10AM
