    From Lurker to Poster

Hi, my name is Dave from CO. Sorry in advance if this ends up being a long post.

A few months ago I purchased an ENO DN. At first it was a recreational endeavor but soon after I discovered this site, and it really piqued my interest in using my hammock for more than just a place to nap.

After reading a lot of posts and watching a lot of videos from Shug and others I decided that one goal this summer was to spend at least one night in my hammock.

Over the past few months I learned and made my own Whoopie Slings using directions posted here and have been hanging as much as possible.

Recently though, for my birthday, my wife bought me a bug shield for my ENO DN and last weekend, on a camping trip at Boysen Reservoir in WY, I had my first overnight hang.

Like most everyone here, I immediately fell in love and want to make it my primary mode of sleep while in the woods. But I'm lacking in a few areas so I am finally posting my introduction in order to get ideas from the group.

Currently my sleep set up is:

    Hammock: ENO DN
    Bug Net: ENO Bug Shield
Sleeping Bag: Big Agnes Lost Ranger 15°
Sleeping Pad: Big Agnes Insulated Core
    Tarp: ??? TBD
    Underquilt: ??? TBD

I have really learned a lot by lurking and am a happy hanger that is looking forward to more hangs in the future.

    Dave

welcome to the forums from SC. you would be fine starting off with you current bag and pad setup. and some even prefer pads to UQ's but not many. Id say keep going with your current setup but find yourself a tarp. tons of cottage guys around here or if you dont really care about it being ultralight you can look for the guide gear 12x12 or even a walmart tarp. goodluck with your hangs man

Randy : yea but just remember yer roots and where ya come from....you got Hennessy in yer blood son......
