Add a snap, hook, or button to footbox

Is there an experienced DIY er here who has added a snap or button to the omnitape of the KAQ top quilts? Not saying that HG's snaps are better; am saying I find I don't accidentally unfasten a portion of the footbox when getting into / under one of theirs.

So, I'm thinking I'd feel better off with just one fastener, below the knee, secured through the Velcro omnii-tape.

Exerience, suggestions, or expressions of regret from someone who has done this?

    I am interested as well.

I am thinking about getting one of these top quilts and would like a way to close the footbox that is secure.

i used 5 snaps on my TQ to make the side of the foot box (elastic cord to close the very end) i just had to put the snaps through a rolled 1.1oz ripstop hem and it was no problem

can't see why you couldn't do it through velcro just the same, i would suggest getting a decent tool for adding the snaps though, i used the cheap set up that you hit with a hammer and it was a bit tricky to get right and i wish i had spent the few extra bucks for the pliers like tool made just for adding snaps, i would also say you should practice a few on some scrap material to get the feel of it and how they go together

If you're looking for a simple attachment, have you considered Bra hooks? They come in many sizes, are quick and easy to sew and install...

I don't own a HH, so I'm guessing at what you're trying to accomplish...

IMHO, snaps and grommets eventually fatigue the fabric and fail...

I put a tie just above the omni tape on mine DIY TQ. http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=40188

I've used it several times with out any issues. I thought about snaps and hooks but decided I did not want anything hard on it.

That area of a quilt is subject to a lot of stress...I have ripped the stitching on a sewn footbox at that point. The velcro serves as a weak link to protect the fabric and stitching. I like it just the way it is.
