    How do you cut dynaglide

I purchased some dynaglide to play around with and plan on incorporating it into a bridge hammock. I could use some basic help that I could not find with the search engine (I probably missed it somewhere).

What are you guys using to cut this stuff with? Everything I have tried so far frays the ends.

Also, what are you using to turn the end in upon its self?

I have had some luck making loops and a test sling, but due to the end fraying issue I am having a lot harder time finishing off the ends and passing it through longer sections of its self.

    Any advice is welcolmed!
    Thanks,
    Ed

I haven't used dynaglide but I use a razor (the kind that are in box cutters) to cut amsteel. I have a small block of wood that I place under the rope and cut thru with the razor. I would imagine that it would work the same with dynaglide.

I use florist wire to do buries and other splice work. I hear that guitar strings work good also.

Xacto Knife and wood, so basically the same thing. I just had the xacto knife sitting here and had seen one of those guys with the big killer diller bone handle knives showing off that his was sharp. I don't have one of those but I have about 15 of these Xacto knives hanging around. I've counted them before. Usually can never find a one of them when I need one thats why I started building model airplanes with single edge razor blades. At the end of the build I clean off the table, dispose of about 30 of those bad, misplaced boys in an old coke can and restock my supply. I can't keep track of those any better then the Xacto knife, I just have a 'Holds 100' dispenser.

PS unless exceptionally sharp, scissors just make a mess of things.

I personally use a ceramic paring knife and a cutting board to cut my dyneema based cords (amsteel, zing it, etc).

As for a splicing tool to use with dynaglide any sufficiently small gauge wire doubled over will do the job.

    Cheers

small fillet knife and cutting board..works great, but your knife has to be razor sharp.

I use a razor and if I'm lazy and don't want to go out to shop to get one, scissors will do. I've found that if you fold the piece over the blade and pull down as you slide it along the blade, it will cut better than trying to cut it normally.

I haven't been able to find a good local source. You can get it at Arbourist supply stores but the price is high. I order online, but you must specify USPS as UPS will cost you a fortune in brokerage!
