The GTUL is much more comfortable for me than the Nano 7.

Recently I began to think of other uses. I am buying another nano because I want to have a spare hammock with me. I know it sounds weird but when I go out for a week or more into the backcountry with my family, I want to have some redundany in case one of the hammocks fails and going to the ground would make the trip not so fun.

I've used my Nano 7 underneath my GTUL for winter trips and placed my pack between them for extra insulation. Last month I wished I had taken it along on the AT as some others had their homemade hammocks fail on them .. they would have welcomed the Nano.

I also have both the GTUL and the GT Nano and love them both. I'm 5'10 / 200 lbs and sleep great in either one. The Nano is plenty long enough but more narrow for me but still fit fine.

The weight savings and the fact that the Nano packs down so small in volume (about the size of a coke can with slings inside the sack) was well worth the extra $$.

Also found them onsale for under $50 shipped on Ebay.

Nano under another hammock? That's a pretty sharp idea!

I picked up my Nano for $50 from ebay and I'm happy I did. It never loses a spot in my daily backpack. When I need a quick nap, there it is!

I've done a few multi-night trips with it as well. I sometimes prefer a more narrow setup, with less extra material to get all tangled in.

I have both. I love both! But after many nights in my Nano, getting back into the UL and finding myself less comfortable with extra room was a huge surprise. The nano is so comfortable. Maybe I have the old one with the slight stretch, but either way, I'm out in 5 minutes or less.

I just got the GTUL in Camo and have put in a few nights now. Regarding comfort, I do like the material of the Nano better. Also, I like the lay I get in the Nano better. Seems that the GTUL, I am not able to get it right no matter I how I rig it. The UL has a lot of excess material on the sides and it seems to fall inside on my face which is a little bothersome. It's almost like if the hammock could be about 6" less in width and it would be better. Also the way the material gathers, there tends to be more ridges that come down from the point on the suspension underneath my legs and sometimes my back. To be fair, I just got the GTUL and will have to spend more nights before I can judge fairly.

Remember, I am short 5'5" and weigh 180lbs, so I dont needs as big a hammock as most of you. The Nano is about perfect in size so my vote goes to the Nano for comfort.

Just picked up the UL on sale at campmor for $19.00 after tax to play around with and made some quick diy tree straps and hung the hammock at approximately a 30 degree angle (a ridgeline would probably help). It's just long enough to get a comfortable asymm lay for me @ 6ft which makes me think the nano would not be comfortable for someone around my height.

I don't have a GTUL, but I'm 6' and 225lbs. I can get a good lay in my Nano7.

Interesting information guys, thanks! May just have to pick one or two of these up. I love the thought of using the nano for an underhammock layer or a gear hammock.
