    Footprint For A Tarp

I was going through some clearance items at the REI store and found a Kelty Trail Dome 6 Footprint on sale for $.03. I do not need a footprint but for 3 cents I could not pass it up. Being a newbie to hammocking and not really a backpacker I am not familiar with 1800 mm PU coated nylon taffeta - is this water proof can I use this as a tarp? its 9x9 and I was thinking of adding a few tie outs to make a backup tarp. I am mostly a car camper/canoe so I am not concerned about weight. Any drawbacks to using this as a tarp?

    Any More Left??

This should make a great "not so lightweight" tarp. Do they have any more left? I'd gladly give $.03 plus shipping (maybe a little more).

Sorry but I think I got the only one left at the Oakbrook Terrace IL Store I would have bought 100 more at that price and given them away to HF members if they had more.

    Great catch!

Should make a great tarp. PU coated nylon is what most of the entry level HH's come with. The backpacker models go to silnylon to cut down a bit of weight. It should be an excellent candidate for mods.

Throw up some pics when you get it set up!

heywoodja, looks like you got quite the steal! I scored one for $.83 at the Northbrook REI, I used mine this spring with a night of rain at Starved Rock, held up just fine throughout the weekend, good luck!
