I still really don't know what I'm doing, just that I'm going to try my darndest to get down to the hollow on Saturday night. If I can make it down early enough, I'll probably park where they blocked Combs Rd to motorized traffic south of the pines and hike in from there. If it's later, I may just park on Berry Ridge Rd. so I'll have a shorter hike in.

I'm not sure if I'll be staying out for Sunday night as well or not. If I do, there are a few other options that I wouldn't mind trying besides heading up and over Browning hill to visit that homestead.

I'm just going to have to play it by ear since I've got a few other things going on this weekend that are competing for my time. Anyone have an instant cloning device so I can make a few copies of myself?

It depends on just how late of a start you get, I think. Mule and I started at the North Nebo trail head, and I think we were making pretty good time, but I really can't remember exactly how long it took us to get there. I know we paused for a good long while on top of the hill for a break and a bit of a snack, but I think we only hiked for about 2 hours or so. Looking at my map, it looks like maybe three miles give or take a bit. Good luck! Sorry we won't get to hang out. I do plan to continue with my goal of backpacking at least once a month all year long, so if you want to head out for a winter hang, let me know. And if nothing else, there's always the Hoosier Hang next April too.

I'm trying to come up with a good overnighter for me and my son.

I assume Browning Hollow is on the downside of Browning Hill. Which side? Is it any nicer than the Pines where HH 2011 was at?

Mule and Salamander, What tower are you talking about? Is there a tower at the South Trail Head? I've never been to the South entrance.

Probably won't be there this weekend, with the heat forecasted. It's cooler down in the valleys of the RRG and I won't have to carry all our water. Besides, there are a couple swimming holes there that Maddie is dying to try.

You all have fun, and try to stay cool!

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the homestead on the resevour. The homestead below Browning Hill will be a three hour hike almost, from the Nebo Ridge parking lot.

OK, I know it's a hundred degrees down there today, but I am itching to get out. In a nutshell, what are all of your plans for this weekend so far? I am trying to make up my mind about this weekend and it's already upon me. The weather will be much better tomorrow night and Monday and on through Wednesday, but I know not many can get off work those days.
What's your plans for today and tomorrow? I may meet you down there. Mule

FYI: I will be out there Sunday night(better weather).

I've never left from the South Nebo TH. Is it better/worse? If I see the trail right, looks like a bit of a hassle to get to Browning Hill though. And if the Pines/Hollow area we had HH is out of water I might need to find another spot.

My main concern now is finding water out there.

But if I don't get a better plan, we will hike out of South Nebo TH around noon, and go till we are ready to stop. Pump water whenever I can and carry too much encase we don't find any.
