I do have one question. What will you do in a few months when you aren't a "noobhanger" anymore?

I've never camped since moving to the south. I'm planning a trip to Shepard State Park in Gautier, MS this weekend. Gonna be trying out my hammocks for the first time on an overnighter. Anyone have any tips?

Noob, welcome aboard from Florida. Betcha there aren't many here who would be willing to take on that title, good luck

You have the right hammock for Shepard SP. I have treated my hammocks with Permithrin. It keeps mosquitoes from biting through from the bottom. When you hang it, try to get your suspension on a 30degree angle. That is the preferred angle to get the best possible comfort.

Thanks, wyleone! I'm two days away from my first hammock camping experience! I'm very excited! Weather forecast is looking like 84 high and 63 lows. Hope to come home with a load of frogs, too. I'll give a trip report with pics when I return!

I am hanging on the banks of the Econfina Creek in FL myself. Hope you have a good time, we will be waiting on that report.
