Oh, hhhhmmm.... I don't know if I have a scale that measures things that light.
Probably whatever stock aluminum the diameter of a pencil would weigh?

I'll see if there is a scale at work that will do it....

The tent pole toggles came it at 11 grams. I have since switched to dutch whoopie hooks, which are a whopping 3.4 grams. Here are some pics of the toggle.

I too have made several carbon toggles from cut off arrows. Two issues, check them after each use, a couple of mine were large diameter thin walled target arrows and they began to deform after very little use--they didn't fail only deformed. Second, as noted prior, make a clean cut. I use a dremmel type rotary cutter with an abrasive wheel--works like a charm. I like your idea with the inserts. It would be very easy to adapt some type of hook and thread them in to the inserts for additional gear storage\drying when deployed...2 cents.

I was at a store that cuts arrows to length. I think a dicks sporting goods. I got a whole handful of aluminum arrow ends for free. Made great toggles.

By the way, those came out of the trash can at the cutting station.
