    Pseudo-Cat II Tarp

Firstly, thanks to all on this forum for your immaculate hammocking knowledge.

I ordered 10 yards of silnylon with intentions to build a blackcat, but this idea from Frawg piqued my interest.

    Pseudo-Cat Tarp Experiment

I liked the fact that I could make 3 tarps instead of 1 with my amount of material, so I decided to give it a try, except I wanted to execute Barry's suggestion so that I could close the ends well.

I have not added the extra tie-outs for closing the ends yet, but the basic tarp shape pitches well.
    It's 5'6" by 10'.

So you expanded on Frawg's original design and Barry's modification. You re-attached some of the pieces you cut and sewed them onto the ridgeline section of the tarp, right? I don't think either of their designs had beaks on the ridgeline. I like it!

It looks pretty slick!!! Nice Work!!!

That is one slick looking tarp. Makes me want to learn to sew just so I could end up with a tarp like that!

Thanks! I can't take full credit though. The funny thing is I'm only 19 with no idea how to sew!! I had to beg my mom to do the sewing. I measured and cut and she sewed.

The triangular pieces at the guylines are the silnylon sections cut from the ends and reattached. The diamond-shaped pieces on the ridgeline and the corner reinforcements are silicone-coated oxford from backwoods daydreamer.

Thanks thepikey. I don't have any sort of balance or scale to weigh it yet. It's made out of 1.1oz. sil. I would guess it's between 8 and 10 oz. I hope.

Here's the tarp stuffed inside my brother's slap straps stuff sack.

Its a great tarp. You and your mom did a wonderful job envisioning it and executing the vision.

Obviously your mom knows how to sew. You need to get her to teach you the basics or even advanced stuff if she has the patience. Once the DIY bug bites, it usually bites hard. You might want to keep you eye out for a good used machine too. Beats bugging your mom all the time.
