I use the evil ENO slap straps so I hang as high as I can but leave some slack. Usually a little above head high.

I like mine where the edge of the hammock hits near los calsones. That a little bit south of Ur-nalgas.

Years late entry... I try to hang my Hammock about butt high. I'm big and heavy, so I set about 18-20" high.
It's easier to get in and out of my WBBB. After my knee replacement, I don't do lower heights.

I'm heavy, and with a new store-bought knee, too. I kept my cheap Amazon hammock low-ish so I could just role out. With the new Amok I set it at chair height and I slide ride out. Still working on the getting in thing, but I'm getting better!

The older I get, the more I find that while my sitter-downer works OK, my stander-upper isn't quite as robust, so I hang accordingly. That said, I also don't hang any higher than I'm interested in falling - for much the same reason.

I want the hammock to be a comfortable chair height when I sit in it. This makes it easier to get into and out of.

If your hammock is a bit low, and it’s difficult to go from sitting to standing without strain on knees etc. While sitting low, put feet on ground and back up or push hammock backwards—this will raise you up high enough to stand up more easily.

Usually my hammock is a bit too high, making me wonder if the hammock will fail as I put most all my weight on the edge hem, while getting out of hammock. Ok so far

Yup, another chair height person unless I'm really tired and don't give a hoot.
