    Thanks for sharing

My dad and I were going to take a trip up there this september, which has been postponed to next year. It's good to know what to avoid though...don't think the old man's knees would be up to a few of those portages Glad the weather cooperated.

Did you find the lakes low at all? It's been pretty dry up here for the last couple of months.

I live so close and have yet to do an extended Boundary Waters trip. It's a shame, really.

Beautiful's brother is flying in from Hawaii for his second trip to the BWCA, and my brother is meeting us from Colorado for his first return to the BWCA in more than 20 years. Both boys will be hangin' (one JRB BMBH, and one WBBB), and Beautiful and I are taking the party tent (a GoLite SGL-5 pyramid). Never fear for us groundlings though, WV's polyester GE is going along with me as a "lounger"!

Thanks for making me even more excited to get up there.
Thanks BER. Its good you don't have to cancel your trip, but take it easy out there. I'm already ready to go back.

I so wanted to make a yak trip to the BW this year but could not swing the gas price for a round trip from CO. Being retired and on a fixed income I just spent to many bucks on hammocks and related gear this year. I hope to make it next.
The BW isn't going anywhere, hopefully you can make it next year.

Even the easy portages are hard with all the rocks in that area! Hope you make it up next year.

Yes, shame on you. You should go over there as soon as you read this.
Yes the lakes did seem a bit low, lots of rocks with scrapes on them, at times it was like paddling through a mine field!

Thanks bomber, it was a great trip. I don't know if I have any more marathons in me. Training takes too much time.

I watched this a few days ago but didn't have time to comment because I just moved.

Awesome video man! I really liked how you and your lady switched between narating the video and watching this makes me want to go to the BWCA really bad. Thanks so much for sharing and glad you had a great time!

BWCA is great. Sounds like you had a good trip Red.

For any of you out there thinking of going you should visit BWCA.com. A great resource. You can do it without laying out a ton of money for paddle specific gear. If you're only in it to go once or twice, you can go with internal frame packs. Won't be ideal, but you can do it. This is coming from someone with FOUR portage packs.
