So last year we were at Buck Lake....Anybody been to Doe Lake?? Looks like a large equestrian area complete with hot showers. The google maps and online photos I could find look like it has gobs of suitable hang sites (maybe a little longer than preferred). The only problem is price....$150/night but you're allowed up to 250 campers (not likely). Split between 30 or more campers that's not too bad though.

    Whee! So excited!

Flackfizer - I will help you guys anyway I can with this. Just let me know what you want me to take on.

Ed Hess - Will you be doing another low-country boil? It was quite a hit. Ed, my cooking skills are at your service. I'll make gumbo if you guys like. I suspect we will need twice as much as last year!

Islander- Will there be a 2nd Annual Florida Hang Patch?

You realize that was a rhetorical question, right?

Buck Lake has a lot going for it ... Right on the Florida Trail for hiking, waterfront on the lake for the canoe or kayak, geocaching close by, beautiful fresh water springs at Alexander and Juniper, spring runs for paddling, and a great campfire/social area. If we are looking for a site for, let's say 70 campers, we can use Buck Lake and better utilize the spur trail to the FT for hanging sites. This would be on the left side of the lake, clockwise, away from the campfire area. It may be a little hike for breakfast, but then some may enjoy being away from all the action.

MLK long weekend is Jan 13-16. That would be Friday-Monday. Presidents weekend is Feb 17-20.

Flackfizer, if you are so inclined, if there is a small group that will investigate various sites based on the group input, count me in.

Based on last year, we need to keep an eye on hunting season, being centrally located to main highways for out of state hangers, and having enough area for everyone to feel comfortable in their hammock.

A shrimp boil could be on the menu again, if there is any interest. But I cannot wait for the gumbo!!

We are in, pretty much any where is fine. Sadly life got super busy right after the 1st hang and I don't think we have had the chance to hang anywhere other than our yard since then. I do hope it is slightly warmer this time....

I'm in for any scouting too. I need to Get-Out. Its been since April, my last Hike & Hang. Prefer to scout when its below 90*
I think the Shrimp Boil set a great tradition. Also gotta have some of that famous Gumbo.
