Now I just have t get "Duddy" embroidered on my hammock!

I didn't go on the kayak run last year but might do so this year. How about more info (start/end points, distance, and typical time to run it)?

I did a 5 day, 50 mile run on the Suwanee River this summer but don't want to spend most of the weekend kayaking, especially if I can convince my significant other to come along this year. The boys all have there own hammocks but she's still a ground dweller and hasn't camped in about 10 years.

The Alexander Springs Run is only about a three hour paddle.

The Juniper Springs paddle is a little longer than the Alexander Springs Run.

Even if you don't do a run, the lake is nice to paddle on.

    Hope that helps.

    Funny!

I have been away from this site for far too long. I've been busy scouting for a suitable place to offer up. Since I'm a paddler, I've focused my attention to the water. I found a few places in the Apalachicola National Forest that could handle as many hangers we can gather. Two of them are on the Florida trail. One has showers and the others are pit toilets. They all have good access and parking. If there's any interest in the panhandle, check out Apalachicola National forest. Some examples are; Mack Landing, Camel Lake, Wright Lake, Porter Lake. There are plenty of places for all activities.

I'm up for additional scouting too!

    I'm good for anywhere!

I cant wait for this hang. Last years was one of the best camping trips Ive been on and this year will be even better. I too will be bringing a yak this year so a springs run might be fun. As for Apalachicola, that would be a great area and we may have to consider it for the future but it seems a bit too far for our south florida brethren. Now to head over to the planning thread

    Hey All--
Just a reminder that we have shifted to a new thread that contains the details upfront. Here is Ed's posting on that, and below it is mine. See you on the new thread....
    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=38422

OK everyone!! It is OFFICIAL!! We have Buck Lake reserved as the site of the 2012 2nd Annual Florida Hang. Dates are Jan 13, 14, 15, 16. That is Friday at noon until Monday 10:00 am.

Let's keep the ideas and conversation going about what you would like to see happen for the weekend. There has been mention of having some vendors to show their hammock/camping gear, or having samples of the gear available for the weekend. There are a few options for paddles down the Juniper or Alexander Spring run. Being that Buck Lake is smack-dab on the Florida Trail short hiking trips are sure to be involved. And we cannot forget all the action around the campfire with the dutch ovens. It is great to see and hear of all the ideas.

So, circle the dates on your new 2012 calendar!! Be sure to get off work for the weekend and get all your hammock gear together. It is going to be a terrific weekend.
