New from Tucson

Hi all,

I am an addict, I can't stop camping in my hammock. And if I am just out for a hike, I just can't help it, I want to take a nap.

I am glad to find a forum with so much experience, I look forward to "hangin around" with as many people as possible.

I did ask a few questions in my note on "what go you interested in hanging" thread, so please check that out so I don't repeat myself.

My biggest challenge...How to hang a hammock from cactus. And other ways to deal with oven like temperatures.

Welcome to Hammock Forums! I'm from Tucson as well.

I've heard of people using a small fan for hangin' in the heat, but it's been so hot lately I might just have to wait for it to cool down. I'm definitely looking forward to trying out some winter hammocking up in the Catalinas this year

WOOOO! More AZ. people...I'm down here in Yuma, but graduated from U of A so I know your neck of desert too. No way to avoid the heat or special tricks for sleeping well when it is hot out here...besides a lil' whisky. and I'm sure you know messing with cactus big enough to hang from is way illegal...lol...unless its in your yard or something. We cant even burn palo verde wood in campfires down here. hit me up if you ever wanna hang down by the river.

Nice to know about others in AZ. I am always looking for a weekend get away.

I will be in Tuc-town for the upcoming Second Saturdays on 4th Ave event...I'm looking to hang a bit on campus too as there are so many wonderful trees at U of A.

welcome from arkansas.

no answer to the heat. we have the worst kind here, along with some of the other guys from the south - hot, humid, and bugs, man, lots of all three.

on short stints, day hikes and one nighters, or close to the base hikes, i see no problem toting a tent fan and batteries.
