    Superfly tarp rigging

    Howdy y'all,

I just received my new Traveler, bugnet and superfly cat tarp from Brandon. The tarp has changed quite a bit since the one I bought for my WBBB, and I'm curious about the best way to rig it.

The new tarp has double rings on each end of the ridge, along with a single small ring inset an inch or so farther in. The four corners each have a triangle tie out and again the small ring inset farther in. Can anyone tell me the logic behind the small extra rings? I want to make sure I'm rigging the beast optimally, and it seems I might be missing some basic concept.

    Kind regards,

    Rich

The small rings are for the doors to clip to on the bottom and on the top possibly to run an additional like under the tarp for a clothes type line?

On my BMJ the bottom rings are for the doors to clip to just the same but the top ones are for the tops of the doors to clip to due to the doors being totally separate.

Thanks, Tendertoe, now I don't feel quite so dense! Got no doors, so I won't use the corners, but I might tie the bugnet up to the inner ridgeline rings.

I am using the method suggested by Shane in this thread for my Superfly.

    http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ight=line+loks

It does adjust easily, but I am not sure the tarp will have enough tension to keep it taught in the weather. I may try it without the tensoiners. Brandon from WB recommends no tensioners. Time and testing will tell.

One handy thing I do enjoy is the use of "skins" over the Superfly. This helps tame this large tarp during setup and tear down.

Okay, I've got an Edge rather than a Superfly--duh. But basically the same concept.

I rigged the tarp for my WBBB with shock cord with a loose loop of thin line for the tie-outs. This ensures the line will hold if the shock cord breaks. I use thin cord with figure-9s for fast set-up on the ridge ends. I've slept through some pretty hefty storms and it holds solid. Last night I rigged out the Edge the same way. I'm taking it out for some 'packing this weekend--I'll see how it all works and take some photos.

Btw, my full rig for the WBBB weighs in at 1230g, while the WBT weighs in at 1100g. Significant.

That makes a bit more sense now. All the "extra" rings you mention are for doors.

Can't wait to see the pictures.

I've found in windy conditions the tensioners are a hinderance. Brandon told me the same, "no tensioners", but in calm conditions there excellent.
