    Firewood

Remember to only bring firewood from safe locations. I'm not sure if our WV bugs would like VA trees, so I'm planning to collect wood on site.
A firewood quarantine has been established for the following localities: counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, and Prince William; and the entire cities of Alexandria, Fairfax City, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park. It is unlawful to transport firewood from these localities. In general, firewood can harbor insect pests under the bark and in the wood. The transport of infested firewood has been identified as a leading cause in the introduction of harmful forest insects into un-infested forest areas. Help us keep our state parks pest free by leaving your firewood at home.

This information is from reserveamerica, not GHSP. I don't know if it's up-to-date.

Less than 2 weeks to go (actually, 2 weeks from today everyone will be at least thinking of heading home ) Temp as of noon today was around 44, with a wind chill of 43ish, so not too bad. In fact, if the temperature holds, this will be the warmest Mt Rogers winter hang ever. It seems to have rained a (very) little Sat around 1800, or 6PM.

Have a good time, drive safe, stay warm & post lots of pictures!

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.

Good idea HC, I'll wear a pair of swim trunks, tank top, and flip flops down also. That should cover the cold weather, you have the snow covered.

As I pulled out my big ol' Superfly tarp yesterday to ensure it was ready for this hang, I had an idea....

I could bring my big ol' REI 6 Dome tent, set it up, run the hammock suspension through the tent openings, and hang inside the tent! Ha! Wouldn't that be rediculous!!! (Hey, we are car camping ya' know)

Yeah, I'll stick with the Superfly....
