This would both to keep the water warm longer & also protect the spigot inside an easy open ccf door access.
I'll bring mine. It's a 5-gallon cooler with a spigot, and I've made a reflectix "coozy" for it. It worked last year very well in the car. After filling it at the Ranger's station with the hottest water from the tap, it was still warm 24 hours later. Maybe we can take a tarp and make an enclosure in the pavillion for it which will keep the wind off, which should mimic the environment of the car. Also, I think if we had another cooler or 2 it would be better for the size of the group.

Thanks for posting, Doctari! And, please, please find someone who will trade hours with you so you can go!.

I went for the first time last year and had a blast. For those who want to see what this hang is like, here's the video I shot last year:

And a look at my insulation system which kept me toasty:

To view a map of the area, http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_pa...nhighlands.pdf
our gathering area is just behind [about 60' ESE] the Camp Store. (Closed in winter). And we camp near that central area.

Notice the hiking trails in the park. Many of which connect to the ones in the national park to the North. Trails such as the AT which is about 2 miles N on the "Seed Orchard Road". There is also a Privy & shower shown on the map near the Group area, they are closed also I would bet that if you are willing to take a cold shower in below freezing temps, the rangers could be convinced to open it up just for you. Brrrrr.

Tiger Rag and Joey, you are very welcome, and I hope the videos convinced you to come!

Doctari, I think you forgot to attach the map.

    Yes I did.
Sadly, I'm so senile I often forget stuff as I'm doing it, but not senile enough to forget that I forget stuff.

It's fixed. But just in case: http://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state_pa...nhighlands.pdf

No, I definitely want to come, I just have to see if I can work it out in my schedule. I'll know when we're getting a little closer to the date, but otherwise, I'm going to plan on it.

I'm keeping an eye out on underquilts in the for sale items and I've also got a couple item for sale so if I can liquidate the funds I'll pull the trigger on one so I'll be properly equipped.

OOOHHHH YEAH!!!! Just made plans to make this hang. So count me in. I am very excited. I saw a couple of you are planning on getting their and camping Thursday night well you can count me in for Thursday night as well. I plan on leaving from Baltimore Thursday afternoon. I've been wanting to make this hang for a very long time and finally this year I can. And then the weekend after the Pine Barrens hang. It's going to be a fantastic winter. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.

Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
