Yosemite Sam: Are you trying to make me look a fool?
Bugs: You don't need me to make you look like a fool.
Yosemite Sam: Yer deerrrnnn right I don't!
hmm, the thing is that TheXringHunt mentions the seam allowance as being included in the measurements earlier in this thread.
But I guess the grosgrain route would work, too. Then I only need to figure out what grosgrain is called in the German webshop I use for the materials :-)
Okay, last question (I promise ) ...: Anyone have these plans in a different format that I can feed into our plotter at work (AutoCad, Visio or the like)? Scaling the PDF to 44inch wide endless paper does not really give scaled results - and it would be really neat to use that plotter
I really like the plans for this hammock, and think I mostly have got my head wrapped around how it all fits together....
By my math, I could build a 9' hammock as a double layer, (double layer on main portion only, not double layer for the footbox/shelf section,) with 11 yards of material. If I built everything double layer, I would require to order another 4yd length, and have roughly a 30" x 120" piece leftover...
Would a double layer on just the main portion work, or would it have to include the footbox at a minimum, to effectively work with a pad?
This is my first experience with a hammock, so I'm all new to this. Any info would be great. Also let me know if I should be going with the 8' version instead, I'm a hair under 6' 1", 160 lbs.
Thanks!
Finished my 9' model today and I love it! Thank you TheXringHunt!100_3883.jpg100_3884.jpg100_3885.jpg100_3890.jpg
You are welcome, good to see the successful builds.

Finally made it to the woods with my own (bought) Blackbird and my son's that I built from these plans. Needless to say the little man had a blast - and as you can see in the last shot he was VERY comfy in his KiddyBird
(grr, little bugger nicked my UQ and my summer tarp!)
Breakfast? Why? I'm comfy...
