Tarp Opinions Please

An asym tarp would weigh 9 or 10 oz. and cost a lot less than a cuben tarp. Good for backpacking when you don't intend to spend a long time just hanging out under the tarp.

That certainly does sound like an option. I'm learning here, can you give me some brands? I know your knowledge is greater than mine concerning tarps. Thanks, David

PS. After typing this I did find the Diamond Asym on Warbonnet's site. It comes in at 7.5oz, not bad.

Another one to look at is the OES Micro at 7.4 oz.

I have both the WB Diamond-Asym and the OES Micro. The WB probably edges out the Micro in useful coverage. The points of the diamond seem to give you a little more room on the ground that is protected. On the other hand, the OES Micro sets-up with a more taut pitch unless you use a full-length ridgeline with the WB. They are both minimalist tarps that will cover you and your hammock without much of an issue; just a matter of your preferences for pitch and coverage.
