    I love fire.
Oh man, that sounds delish. I'll bring some sausages and perhaps s'mores? Does anyone else want S'mores?

It's been so long since I've been car camping--I think I've already discarded all of my and-the-kitchen-sink-too type gear...

S'mores are always a hit at a campfire! Yummy!

A pan of homemade cinnamon buns to pass at breakfast will arrive in our truck.

What a great (albeit wet) hang! It was fun to get out again and even better to meet a few more Oregon great hangers and honorary Oregon hanger Turtlelady and her non-hanger (but still good company) daughter Leisa. Let's do it again soon!

On the way home from the hang this morning Leisa and I made a brief stop in Hillsboro to cruise through the Goodwill store. No big finds, but it sure is an attractive, well organized store. We had five minutes of sunshine as we approached Portland, then the rains returned.

Leisa and I had a most pleasant weekend hanging around with some of the Oregon crew. Thank you to everyone who came. I hope we can meet again when I return to the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed meeting the folks who braved the chill and rain to share the food, friendship and fun around the fire. We did some gear trading and admired the superb DIY efforts of the gang. It was a treat to help initiate Jennabird at her first hang. Special thanks to Gary for providing coffee in the mornings and caffeine marshmallow to add some extra fun to the traditional s'mores. Silverlion's son Noah was a joy to adventure with as we explored along Gale's Creek. Joe and family introduced me to the wonderment of a very fine hatchet.

Specialty foods available in the area were a favorite topic of discussion. I will need to go shopping before my flight home to look for some of those!

    The dark side

Clean up in a city apartment is much harder than at my old Kentucky home. I am missing my yard with trees and my house with balcony railings that make clean up and drying. I love my Winter Dream tarp but I will have a much smaller tarp for the next Oregon hang I attend. But then is it happens to be one of winter hangs, who knows. The fluffy tree moss bits are not easy to clean off my softened tyvek foot and gear cloth. Something smoother for next time, or a gear hammock and a small plastic sheet for standing on with bare feet.
