no man i swear that there really is a new product from dutch as i already have a set that i did the testing on. and they will change the way most use whoopies. yes this thread was made and blessed by dutch himself and i would never do something like this without him oking it first. and if course the reason of this thread is too hype up a new product, which for most of you im sure isnt really nessasary. because everyone knows the quality dutch puts out and as alot of you already said that you would purchase site unseen. last i heard from dutch "yesterday" was he is still doing internal testing "for insurance reasons AKA covering his butt to make sure that there is NO way this product can be used wrong" but fear not they will be out in the near future, and thats all i know quoteing dutch "These things take a little while"

well thats the update yall hold in there

Big turtle is graciously testing out something. Although I am testing out something, I am generally doing that. Not every idea is a good one and not every good idea is marketable. Bigturtle actually came up with fix for a problem on a gadget that I pretty much gave up on. His method worked pretty good and so simple I can't believe I didn't see it. Now I am trying to break them to make sure they are safe. This thread is a little premature and I don't want to send out a tease although there are some funny funny comments. Does the world really need another gadget to suspend a hammock? I'm not sure it does. Honestly I was content with cinch buckles and Dutch clips. Heck I was happy tying that strange HH knot and using a pad. This new device is would replace the Marlin spike hitch, itis light, easy to use, inexpensive and a little safer. However I don't think people are very discontent with the marlin spike hitch and toggle. So it may be a fix for a nonexistant problem. So what do you think? Does anyone ever say man "I wish I had something better than this slip knot and stick?"

Yes there is room for improvement. Yes we are a little obsessive when it comes to "quicker, easier, faster, safer, lighter" but that is human nature.

I have never trusted the MSH. I have hung with it dozens of times and never had a problem, but on 3 mornings i had woken up to the knot/spike being twisted. I don't like that possibility.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!

I stopped using he marlin spike hitch when Dutch showed me that the Dutch Biner would work with my straps and have yet to have a problem since! I am intrigued though and who wouldn't, I mean we are talking about "The Dutchman" who needs a Time machine made out of a Delorian and 1.21gigawats, we got "Dutchware", woooohoooooo!

Ohhhh a titanium slip knot! Yea! Alien technology. I knew I wanted one. Of course I've said that very thing about toggles and the MSH. Knots would work but what gratification is there in not wanting more stuff. My name is Two Tents and i have a gear addiction problem.
I like refried beans. That's why I wanna try fried beans, because maybe they're just as good and we're just wasting time. You don't have to fry them again after all.

I dig the MSH, and the ease of its use, but I have definitely had my worries. I've lost toggles, I've had the knot twist around, and I always worry that adjusting the whoopies could cause some abrasion on the strap (or vice versa). I have a friend that absolutely refuses to use the MSH because he doesn't trust the toggle method. Personally, I'd likely stick with the MSH if the new device is more complicated, heavier, or more expensive than toggles, but I would definitely love to replace the MSH with something a bit more secure.
